Antonella Sturniolo, Instructor

Antonella was born and raised in Manhattan, where she attended the Rudolf Steiner Waldorf School for twelve years before starting at Barnard College of Columbia University. Antonella spent her first two years at Barnard and spent this past junior year at the University of Pennsylvania. She studies visual art, music, and political economy.

Antonella has been fully immersed in the arts, taking Art History classes, as well as classes on sculpting, painting, drawing, architecture, and her latest passion of photography. In addition, Antonella has immense experience with children. She not only tutors and babysits but has also been an assistant to the director of a preschool for many years. She has coordinated art projects and trips with the preschool students to locations such as The Metropolitan Museum, The Morgan Library, The Botanical Gardens, The Cloisters, The Whitney Museum, and Wave Hill. Antonella plans lessons for the trips that are dependent on what the current exhibits are, and the lessons always include a story of the historical art background, a viewing of the exhibit, and an art project to create and take home.

Additionally, Antonella’s current experience has been in the vintage managerial and clothing design realm, including how to properly curate articles of clothing and jewelry. She has also had experience in writing and graphic design for magazines, most recently for a non-profit science magazine designed for children. In the future, Antonella plans to continue to pursue the arts and hopes to work with interior design or gallery curation.
